The chapada is a rock formation of an altitude of more than 600 meters which has a flat part in its upper part, surface due to erosion. Naturally, flat surface terrains meet all around at a more or less equal altitude, separated by the sources of numerous streams that have cut the rocks over time.
The Chapada Diamantina is the most important chapada of the Brazil.
